Open Air STEAM

Part of MSU Science Festival 2022.

STEM For All envisions the future where science is recognized as part of everyday life for everyone and scientific thinking becomes widespread.

With Open Air STEAM, we are bringing Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Arts (STEAM) out into the open. Enjoy the outdoors and inhale a bit of STEAM.   Our students and their families have installed many STEM exhibits and displays at the sidewalks, parks, and other open areas.

Most of these exhibits were built by Future Scientists of STEM For All, who are currently school students of Greater Lansing area. These exhibits cover a wide variety of STEAMing hot topics, including Mission to Mars, Launch America, discovering some of Galileo’s and Newton’s laws on your own, scale model of the solar system, several space missions including those to asteroids, optics, electricity and magnetism, rockets, airplanes, splitting atoms (safely), and many more.

All these exhibits are unattended, open all days and all nights, and are interactive. Wondering how these exhibits can be interactive when they are unattended? That is why we want you to bring your own mobile device that can connect to the internet. All the exhibits have one or more QRiosity Codes, generally known as QR Codes. Scan these QRiosity Codes using your device’s camera and you will be taken to a video where a Future Scientist explains that exhibit and gives you a lot more inspiring information. Even though these exhibits are placed in open areas and spaced apart, we suggest that you step away from the exhibit when watching the video explanation. Always follow the prevailing COVID-19 health guidelines.

We hope to add more and more exhibits and grow from simple to sophisticated exhibits.

What Kind of Science Center Are We Building?

Imagine a Science Center
where YOU can
See an Exhibit,
Touch it,
Play with it,
Experiment with it,
Break it (accidentally),
Repair it,
Rebuild it,
Improvise it,
Make a Replica and Take it Home
Here, you will not only be inspired, YOU will inspire others.
YOU can be a student who will be building the entire science center.
